Developing Tourist Attraction Strategies Tailored to Group Characteristics
Promoting Regional Economic Revitalization
Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) announced on the 3rd that travelers from ‘Suzhou Early Childhood Normal University’ visited Yangpyeong-gun on the 2nd through Jiangsu Tianma International Tourism Co., Ltd., a local travel agency in Shanghai, China. This achievement is the result of Governor Jeon Jin-seon’s proactive and strategic tourism policy, following his visit to Shanghai in March last year to actively attract inbound travel agencies.
On the 2nd, travelers affiliated with 'Xizhou Early Childhood Normal University' visited Yangpyeong County through Jiangsu Tianma International Tourism Co., Ltd., a local travel agency in Shanghai, China. Provided by Yangpyeong County
At that time, Governor Jeon Jin-seon visited two local travel agencies in Shanghai, introduced major tourist attractions in Yangpyeong, and proposed a tourism course under the theme ‘Must-Visit Yangpyeong Hotspots.’ He also suggested including a Yangpyeong tour in the Korea visit itinerary and actively worked to attract tourists. Such overseas marketing activities have raised Yangpyeong’s recognition and practically expanded the influx of foreign tourists.
In particular, Tianma International Tourism Co., Ltd., which led this visit, is a travel agency focusing not only on simple tourism products but also on promoting group tours for cultural and sports organizations. From January to March, it sends about 5,000 Chinese tourists to Korea through boat travel packages.
Reflecting the characteristics of such group tours, Yangpyeong-gun prepared customized support measures including ▲ discounted rental of performance venues and ▲ support for joint club performances. Through this, the county has continuously consulted with travel agencies to ensure that overseas tourists stay in Yangpyeong, spending on meals and accommodation, thereby contributing to the local economy.
The Suzhou Early Childhood Normal University travel group that visited this time experienced Yangpyeong-gun’s childcare system and parenting support services by visiting ▲ Children’s Health Playground, ▲ Ai Sarang Playground, and ▲ Yangseo Childcare Comprehensive Support Center. They also visited tourist spots such as Dumulmeori and Gu House to experience the charm of Yangpyeong.
Especially at the roundtable held at the Yangseo Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, the group showed great interest while listening to explanations by Center Director Jo Yeon-gyeong about Korea’s advanced childcare system and Yangpyeong-gun’s parenting support services. Discussions were also held to strengthen early childhood education exchanges and cooperation. The systematic programs and support systems for parents and young children left a deep impression on the visiting group.
Jo Yeon-gyeong, Director of Yangpyeong-gun Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, said, “I hope this visit will broaden mutual understanding in childcare and education between the two countries and serve as an opportunity to enhance cooperation in response to the rapidly changing global era,” adding, “We will continue to participate in realizing ‘raising together and smiling together’ childcare through international exchange and cooperation.”
Governor Jeon Jin-seon of Yangpyeong-gun stated, “We will develop unique tourism courses for Chinese tourists and prepare support measures that Yangpyeong-gun can provide to contribute to revitalizing the local economy,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to attract tourists.”
