On the same day, after attending the funeral of the late former National Assembly Speaker Kim Soo-han, Chairman Kwon met with reporters and said, "I deeply regret the part where the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division went out to execute the arrest warrant," adding, "They say it will lead to detention and forced investigation, but the investigation has progressed to the extent that the president cannot destroy evidence, and there is no risk of flight, so continuing forced investigations in this manner is very wrong." He continued, "Since this is a very wrong approach, I believe it must be stopped."
Earlier, the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division attempted to execute the arrest warrant against President Yoon in the morning. Prosecutors and investigators from the division tried to carry out the warrant at the presidential residence, but the Security Office and others physically blocked them, resulting in a standoff.
Regarding the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial, he said, "The Constitutional Court has been formally constituted to some extent, so I think the trial will proceed swiftly. Since the president's side has clearly stated that they will cooperate in this matter, I believe that voluntary investigations should be conducted according to the general principles of investigation based on the progress of that process." He emphasized, "I think the attitude of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division, which tries to continuously carry out forced investigations in line with certain trends, is very wrong."
