Development of Unique Return Gifts, Activation of Mutual Donations... 82% Increase Compared to Previous Year
Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk raised a total of 799 million KRW through the Hometown Love Donation Fund last year, marking an 82% increase compared to 430 million KRW the previous year.
This result significantly exceeded the initial target amount of 500 million KRW.
In its second year of implementing the Hometown Love Donation System, Yeongju City actively promoted the program and improved the system targeting alumni associations, hometown associations, expatriates, and cooperating cities and counties, leading to increased donations. In particular, through a business agreement with local agricultural cooperatives, they developed unique thank-you gifts using excellent local agricultural specialties, enhancing donor satisfaction.
Local agricultural and livestock products such as Korean beef, pork, apples, and red ginseng, as well as handmade products by local artisans and tourism experience packages, became popular thank-you gifts. At the end of the year, a “Thank-you Gift 1+1 Additional Giveaway Event” was held to encourage participation from office workers interested in year-end tax deductions, resulting in an additional 540 million KRW in donations over two months.
Sales of thank-you gifts also exceeded 200 million KRW annually, greatly contributing to the external promotion and market development of local agricultural specialties.
Kim Jun-han, head of the city’s tax department, said, “This achievement is thanks to the warm interest and participation of donors,” adding, “Next year, we will contribute to solving local issues and development through more diverse thank-you gifts and effective donation projects.”
Yeongju City plans to continuously seek new promotional strategies and ways to enhance donor benefits to further expand donation participation.
