Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Economy and Finance, met with the bereaved families of the victims of the Muan International Airport Jeju Air disaster on the 2nd and encouraged the staff at the Integrated Support Center.
On the same day at around 2:51 PM, Acting President Choi visited the joint memorial altar on the first floor of the Muan Airport terminal, offered flowers and incense, and paid his respects with a moment of silence. Ministers and minister-level officials from nine ministries including the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Ministry of Science and ICT, and Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs accompanied him.
Acting President Choi also visited the joint memorial altar set up at the Muan County Muan Comprehensive Sports Park on the 30th of last month. At that time, he wrote in the condolence book, "I remember the 179 people who tragically passed away and will do my utmost to create a safer country."
After paying respects at the memorial altar, Acting President Choi moved to the second floor to meet with the bereaved families. The conversation with the families was held privately.
Acting President Choi visited the Jeju Air passenger plane accident disaster victims Integrated Support Center located on the third floor of the administration building. He shook hands with each staff member and encouraged them, saying, "Thanks to all of you, this place is being maintained. Even though it is difficult, please do your best until the end," and added, "Only then can the bereaved families and the public feel reassured."
