Boryeong Mayor Kim Dongil: "We Will Grow into a Leading Carbon-Neutral City in Korea"

At the Kickoff Ceremony: Preparing to Become an Eco-Friendly Energy City

Kim Dongil, Mayor of Boryeong, Chungnam, stated at the New Year's kick-off ceremony on the 2nd, "This year marks the 30th anniversary of the integration of Boryeong-gun and Daecheon-si," adding, "Over the past 30 years, Boryeong has achieved remarkable development through the united strength of its citizens, despite numerous challenges."

He continued, "Last year, Boryeong was selected as a leading city for carbon neutrality, designated as an energy opportunity development zone, successfully hosted four major marine mega events, concluded the 21st Manse Boryeong Cultural Festival, and opened the Boryeong Badminton Arena, achieving brilliant results together with our citizens."

Mayor Kim emphasized, "Now, we are preparing to leap forward as an eco-friendly energy city, focusing on hydrogen and offshore wind power," and added, "With the active participation of our citizens in overcoming the climate crisis, we will grow into a city leading carbon neutrality in Korea."

He also said, "I will walk this journey of writing a new history for Boryeong together with all our citizens."
