Hwaseong-si, Establishment of Fire Risk Map for Industrial Areas

Efficient Fire Response in Factory-Dense Areas
Includes 26,742 Cases from 25 Fields Data

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that it has completed the construction of the 'Factory Area Fire Risk Map,' which has been promoted since last August, and has entered full-scale operation.

The 'Fire Risk Map' built by the city includes a total of 25 categories and 26,742 data points, covering factories and nearby risk factors, utilizing a geographic information system. The map provides information on fire-vulnerable risk factors within the radius of fire locations. Through this, the city expects to enable immediate fire response and recovery support planning through rapid situation assessment, contributing to securing the golden time to prevent secondary damage.

The city's initiative to build the Fire Risk Map stems from the judgment that safety management measures for fire preparedness in factory areas are necessary, as it is home to 28,590 manufacturing companies, the largest scale nationwide. In particular, the city explains that urgent safety management measures are needed for fire-vulnerable facilities handling hazardous materials and small-scale factories. The newly prepared Fire Risk Map is scheduled to be actively used for on-site response starting this month.

Earlier, in October last year, the city reorganized its structure by establishing the 'Disaster Response Division,' a dedicated department for accident response, and the 'Labor-Management Cooperation Division,' a department responsible for worker safety, human rights protection, and support for industrial accident sites within the jurisdiction. Along with this, the Hwaseong Industrial Promotion Agency established an Industrial Safety Headquarters and launched Industrial Safety Keepers who conduct regular inspections in areas such as fire, electricity, and hazardous substances.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "We will create a safer Hwaseong Special City by preventing secondary damage through data-driven pre-blocking of contaminated water leakage and risk factors."
