At the official press conference for the 2025 PGA Tour season opener, The Sentry, held on the 1st (local time) at the Plantation Course (Par 73, 7,596 yards) of the Kapalua Resort in Hawaii, USA, he said, "I believe all the money from the Ryder Cup goes to charity," adding, "Paying the appearance fee is an opportunity to donate more money." This was Schauffele's first response to the announcement made last month by the PGA of America, the organizer of the Ryder Cup, that each player on the U.S. team would receive $200,000 as an appearance fee for next year's Ryder Cup.

At the 2023 Ryder Cup held in Rome, Italy, Schauffele drew attention by supporting Patrick Cantlay (USA), who was criticized for playing without wearing a hat, by also playing without a hat. Cantlay explained, "There was no suitable hat," but it was suspected to be a protest against the Ryder Cup organizers, who generate huge profits but provide no compensation to the players. At that time, the European team supporters criticized Cantlay, who did not wear a hat, as being "only interested in money." Schauffele emphasized that although he supported the 'hat gate,' it was never about the money.

He added, "We earn a lot of money throughout the year, so we are happy to donate when we can. It is familiar to us to not take money from the Ryder Cup and donate our share." Schauffele had an outstanding season last year, winning two major tournaments including the PGA Championship and The Open. He has accumulated nine PGA Tour wins in total. He also won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
