Gwangju City Secures 17.4 Billion KRW in Gyeonggi-do Special Adjustment Grants for 2024

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 2nd that it has secured 17.4 billion KRW in special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province for 2024.

The special adjustment grants secured this time will be invested in various projects aimed at improving citizens' convenience and regional development.


The main projects include ▲ Tennis dome stadium (air dome) construction project (700 million KRW) ▲ Gonjiam National Defense Sports Park maintenance project (1 billion KRW) ▲ Seongnam~Janghowon expressway entrance and exit ramp construction (300 million KRW) ▲ Gwangnam Sports Park maintenance project (500 million KRW) ▲ Toechon-myeon tomato streetlight installation project (300 million KRW) ▲ Environmental improvement project for the underground passage near Songjeong Elementary School (70 million KRW) ▲ Forest trail (hiking trail) maintenance project (300 million KRW) ▲ Docheok Green Park soccer field maintenance project (400 million KRW) ▲ Installation of voice guidance auxiliary devices at major intersections (400 million KRW) ▲ Jungdae-dong lawn bowls stadium maintenance project (700 million KRW), among others. In addition, a total of 22 projects including the creation of sports facilities, construction of senior centers, road widening and extension, and expansion of CCTV are included.


In particular, 6 billion KRW in special adjustment grants necessary for the construction of the Gwangju Sports Complex (main stadium) for hosting the Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Sports Festival in 2026-2027 has been secured, which is expected to greatly contribute to improving Gwangju City's sports infrastructure and enhancing its ability to attract large-scale sports events.


Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “I would like to thank Provincial Assembly members Yoo Young-doo, Lim Chang-hwi, Oh Chang-jun, Yoo Hyung-jin, Kim Sun-young, and Lee Ja-hyung for their efforts in securing this special adjustment grant,” adding, “Since the secured funds come at a time of difficult domestic and international economic conditions, we will do our best to carry out projects for the safety and happiness of citizens.” He also added, “We will continue to make persistent requests for projects essential to citizens and focus all efforts on securing budgets.”


Meanwhile, the city plans to steadily promote various projects aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens and regional development using the special adjustment grants secured this time.
