The Democratic Party of Korea criticized the collective resignation of senior presidential secretaries and high-ranking aides on the 1st, saying, "Those who remained silent during the December 3 emergency martial law incident are now causing disruption by resigning over the punishment of treason. It is, in a word, a spectacle."
Chief Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae stated in a written briefing that "the collective misconduct of the presidential office and government officials regarding the appointment of constitutional court justices proves that they are in collusion with the treasonous forces."
Earlier, senior presidential secretaries, including Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok, collectively submitted their resignations to Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok. This was interpreted as a protest against the appointment of two constitutional court justices by Acting Prime Minister Choi.
Chief Spokesperson Cho said, "The appointments were made according to the constitution and law, and in fact, one appointment was excluded causing controversy. I don't understand this absurd complaint," and asked, "Are they so afraid that their dream of prolonging life with the treasonous leader Yoon Seok-yeol is being shattered?" He continued, "If they are planning to escape in advance from the ticking clock of judgment, we clearly warn that it is a futile dream," emphasizing, "The Democratic Party will not yield to any obstruction or provocation and will punish the treason to the end."
Spokesperson Kim Seong-hoe also pointed out, "Submitting resignations to the acting prime minister in an attempt to prevent the president's impeachment and actively defying authority is causing public disapproval from the very beginning of the new year," and warned, "Remember that defiance against the commanding authority should have been done when the treasonous crime was in progress."
