On that day, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that Chairman Kim communicated with commanders of frontline operational units, including the commander of the 25th Division General Outpost (GOP) Battalion, the head of the Air and Space Operations Headquarters of the Air Force Operations Command, which is key to airspace defense, and the commander of the Yeonpyeong Unit responsible for protecting the northwestern islands.

Chairman Kim said, "We must deter enemy threats with an impeccable operational posture, and if the enemy provokes, we must retaliate strongly so that the enemy regrets the provocation." He also encouraged, "Thanks to you, the Republic of Korea can welcome a safe and peaceful New Year," and added, "I am grateful and reassured by the soldiers who silently fulfill their duties in their respective positions despite the severe cold weather."

Meanwhile, in his New Year's address that day, Chairman Kim urged, "In the New Year of Eulsa, please continue to do your best to defend the nation and fulfill the mission of protecting the lives and property of the people without change."
