All senior secretaries and above, including Chung Jin-seok, Chief Secretary to the President, tendered their resignations on the 1st to Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister for Economy as well as Minister of Strategy and Finance.
A presidential office official stated in a notice to the press corps that "all chiefs of the Presidential Secretariat, Policy Office, and Security Office, as well as the Special Advisors on Foreign Affairs and Security and all senior secretaries, repeatedly expressed their resignations to Acting President Choi."
The resignation of the entire staff on this day is interpreted as a protest against Acting President Choi's appointment of Jeong Gye-seon and Jo Han-chang as Constitutional Court justices the previous day.
The presidential office expressed deep regret, viewing Acting President Choi's appointment of Constitutional Court justices as exceeding his authority.
It is known that all senior secretaries and above in the presidential office have taken responsibility for the emergency martial law situation and the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol, and have been tendering their resignations since the Han Deok-soo acting president system was established.
