Clear Visibility on the East Coast Again
Morning Low Temperatures Below Freezing, Strong Winds in Gangwon and Gyeongbuk
The first sunrise of 2025 is expected to be visible in most regions nationwide.
The times for the first sunrise of the new year are 7:32 AM in Busan, 7:36 AM in Daegu, 7:38 AM in Jeju, 7:40 AM in Gangneung, 7:41 AM in Gwangju, 7:42 AM in Daejeon, Cheongju, and Jeonju, and 7:47 AM in Seoul.
On the east coast, the sunrise will be clearly visible, while in other areas, the sun will be seen rising through the clouds.
Temperatures will be higher than usual for this time of year, but it may still be quite cold in the morning, with temperatures dropping to around minus 10 degrees Celsius in northeastern Gyeonggi and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon.
Strong gusts of wind around 55 km/h (70 km/h in mountainous areas) are expected, especially in Gangwon and Gyeongbuk.
The morning low temperatures are expected to range from minus 11 degrees to 1 degree Celsius, and the daytime highs from 0 to 7 degrees Celsius.

The expected low and high temperatures in major cities are: Seoul minus 1 degree and 8 degrees Celsius, Incheon 0 and 7 degrees, Daejeon minus 3 and 10 degrees, Gwangju minus 2 and 10 degrees, Daegu minus 4 and 10 degrees, Ulsan minus 2 and 10 degrees, and Busan 1 and 10 degrees Celsius.
From late early morning to morning on New Year's Day, a little snow will fall in the central and northern mountainous areas of Gangwon, with light snow flurries in other mountainous and inland areas of Gangwon.
Dryness advisories have been issued for Gangwon Yeongdong, the east coast of Gyeongbuk, the northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk, and parts of Gyeongnam, so caution is needed as the dry atmosphere increases the risk of large fires.
On the East Sea offshore waters (excluding the southern inner southern offshore waters), strong winds of 30 to 60 km/h (9 to 16 m/s) will blow until New Year's Day, with waves rising to 1.5 to 4.0 meters high.
