'When Will the Family Returning from the 80th Birthday Party Trip Come Back?'... A Pet Dog Left Alone Staring at the Road

"Just Keep Looking at the Road Like Waiting for Family"

In the tragic Muan International Airport Jeju Air passenger plane disaster that resulted in 179 deaths, a heartbreaking story about a victim's pet dog has been shared.

According to a report by 'TV Chosun' on the 30th, the eldest victim of the disaster, Mr. A (80), was on an 80th birthday trip with his family when the tragedy occurred. It is known that nine family members, excluding a son living abroad, lost their lives.

The broadcast reported that Mr. A was a resident of a rural village in Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do, and at his home, only one dog was left alone guarding the house. Neighbors described the dog by saying, "It looks like it is waiting for the family, staring only at the road."

A village resident told the media, "We didn’t tie the dog up; we left it loose at the house like this," and added with sorrow, "When we tell the dog to come to our house, it starts going but then stops halfway to its own home."

Meanwhile, on the 31st, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held a briefing at the Muan Airport terminal for the families of the passengers to explain the progress of the identification process. The ministry stated, "Among the 32 people whose identities were not confirmed through fingerprint comparison, 17 were identified through the first DNA comparison, and 10 through the second. The remaining 5 are undergoing further verification due to DNA mismatches."

The youngest victim was identified as a 3-year-old boy born in 2021. This child was the son of Mr. B (34), an employee of the professional baseball team Kia Tigers, and his wife. The B family was on their first overseas trip with their young son when the accident occurred.

After a photo taken by Mr. B with his family at the travel destination was found on his Instagram account, industry insiders and baseball fans have been leaving messages of condolence for the deceased.
