Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 31st that it has selected five “2024 Second Half Regulatory Innovation and Proactive Administration Outstanding Public Officials” who achieved results by innovating unnecessary regulations and promoting proactive administration based on creativity and expertise.
To this end, the city reportedly conducted a first-round practical review and an evaluation by the Regulatory Reform Committee on 17 cases submitted by November, assessing proactiveness, impact, creativity and expertise, and potential for dissemination.
Subsequently, through deliberation and resolution by the Proactive Administration Committee, a total of five outstanding public officials for regulatory innovation and proactive administration in the second half of this year were finally selected, including two top awardees and three excellence awardees.
The top awards went to a case that achieved the result of “attracting an innovative public medical center in northeastern Gyeonggi” through a differentiated attraction strategy, and the “Disability Health Primary Care Physician” project, which was the nation’s first collaboration among welfare centers, corporations, and hospitals to guarantee medical rights for the disabled.
Additionally, cases selected as excellence awards included “searching for missing persons and managing forest fires within the jurisdiction using drones,” “holding the Hoamsa Sarira Viewing and Orbit Media Experience Exhibition to strengthen the authenticity of Yangju Hoam Temple Site and contribute to its promotion as a World Heritage,” and “budget savings and regional development promotion through approval of changes in special situation area development projects.”
Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “I thank the employees who have actively carried out their duties on the front lines to practice regulatory innovation and proactive administration that citizens can feel,” adding, “We will continue to raise employee morale by selecting outstanding public officials and providing incentives, and ultimately strive to establish a proper public service culture for the citizens.”
