Over 60,000 Reviews... Illegal Viewing of 'Ojingeo Game 2' in China

"Chinese Authorities Must Take Active Measures"
"Focus on Cracking Down on Illegal Activities by Their Citizens"

The globally popular series "Squid Game" Season 2 is once again being illegally distributed in China, following the precedent set by the first season.

On the 31st, Professor Seokyung Deok from Sungshin Women's University pointed out on his Facebook that "the Netflix series 'Squid Game 2,' which has attracted great interest from viewers worldwide, is suffering from illegal viewing in China once again." According to Professor Seokyung, the review page for "Squid Game 2" on the Chinese content review site Douban (豆瓣) was created even before the main episode was released, and currently, over 60,000 reviews remain openly posted.

Professor Seokyung criticized, "'Squid Game 1' was the same when it was released, and now 'pirate viewing' has become a daily routine in China," adding, "What is even more shocking is that they feel no shame whatsoever." He continued, "It is also a major problem that, until now, Chinese entities have freely used the likeness rights of Hallyu stars appearing in K-content and produced counterfeit products to sell, turning them into their own profit structures."

In response, Professor Seokyung emphasized, "It is time for Chinese authorities to take active measures." Previously, during the Beijing Winter Olympics, Chinese authorities conducted strict crackdowns on their citizens to protect intellectual property rights and prevent illegal distribution related to the Olympic mascot "Bing Dwen Dwen."

Professor Seokyung stated, "Chinese authorities are not unaware of this. The truth is they have knowingly turned a blind eye to the illegal viewing of K-content until now." Furthermore, he added, "Chinese authorities must learn to respect content from other countries first and carry out focused crackdowns on illegal activities by their citizens. Only then can their own culture be respected."

Meanwhile, "Squid Game" Season 2 tells the story of Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun), who returns determined for revenge and participates in the game again, the fierce confrontation with Lee Byung-hun (Front Man) who awaits him, and the real game that begins anew.
