Belarus Fashion Brand 'ZNWR'
Showcases Jackets and Dresses Made from Air Cap Material
Recently, Belarusian fashion brand 'ZNWR' showcased clothing made from so-called 'ppokppok-i' (bubble wrap), sparking heated debates among netizens.
On the 29th (local time), ZNWR's official Instagram account introduced new products named 'Bubble Jacket' and 'Bubble Dress.' These garments were made using 'ppokppok-i,' which is commonly used as packaging cushioning or insulation material. Netizens who saw this reacted with comments such as "Oh my god, how do you wear that?", "Won't it pop when you wear it?", "Are they seriously planning to release that outfit?", "It's pretty. Please tell me where I can buy it," and "The idea is genius."
In the promotional video released along with the post, models are seen floating on water wearing only the bubble wrap dress and jacket. ZNWR described the clothing by saying, "True sensuality is important in a busy and rough life," and "Transparency and sincerity are true values." They added, "We used bubble film so that people who value creating something new outside the usual context can express their identity." They also mentioned, "Only 20 pieces of the bubble jacket and dress were made," emphasizing that the items are "very limited."
The dress is reportedly priced at 280 Belarusian rubles (about 120,000 KRW), and the jacket at 380 Belarusian rubles (about 170,000 KRW). These outfits gained fame after a TikToker discovered them at the ZNWR store located in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Yana, who posted the video, introduced the unique bubble wrap clothing by saying, "Everyone, if you're looking for a dress, here it is."
However, even in that video, netizens continued to debate with comments like "Please tell me this is a joke," "It seems like a marketing stunt rather than for sale," "The brand appears to be simply trying to attract attention," "Balenciaga sold bracelets made of tape for 4 million KRW, and now bubble wrap clothes are selling for over 100,000 KRW," "It looks like a piece of art," and "I want to buy the dress."
This is not the first case of releasing products inspired by everyday objects. Earlier, French luxury brand Balenciaga introduced a 'transparent tape bracelet' in March. The tape bracelet released by Balenciaga looks exactly like transparent tape commonly found at local hardware or stationery stores. However, the inside of the Balenciaga tape bracelet is embossed with the Balenciaga logo. The price of this transparent tape bracelet reaches 3,000 euros (about 4.6 million KRW).
