Send, the first company in Korea to start convenience store remittance services, announced on the 30th that it has launched an anonymous prepaid card called 'Send Card.'
Send Card is a prepaid card service that also functions as a transportation card and can be used with just a contact number or email address. It was launched in partnership with Kona I. Since card registration is possible through email verification on the website, both foreigners without Korean mobile phone numbers and Koreans can register the card and use it freely offline.
Send Card, a rechargeable prepaid card, can be charged via virtual accounts at CU convenience stores nationwide. It can be used offline anywhere that accepts Hana Card payment merchants, but online payments are a service exclusively for Koreans or long-term foreign residents who can verify their identity via mobile phone. After identity verification in the application (app), users can access online payments and enjoy 10 free small remittance services.
Additionally, Send Pay plans to display Send Cards at CU convenience stores in the first quarter of next year so that both domestic and foreign customers can purchase, charge, and use them.
A Send Pay official stated, "Since this is an email verification-based service for foreigners, the Send homepage supports 16 languages," adding, "We will soon introduce multilingual and email verification features in the app as well, enabling short-term foreign tourists to use small remittance services within Korea."
