The Public Health Center of Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) is gaining attention by achieving award-winning results in various fields as it wraps up 2024.

According to the city on the 30th, the Public Health Center was selected as ▲ an Excellent Institution for Food Safety Management in 2024 ▲ an Excellent Institution for the 2024 National Nutrition Management Implementation Plan and Nutrition Plus Project ▲ and an Excellent Local Government for the 2024 National Mind Investment Support Project.
First, in May, it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2024 Food Safety Management Excellent Institution Evaluation’ conducted among 17 provinces and 288 cities, counties, and districts nationwide. This evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, assessing the food safety management performance of local governments across the country to share best practices. The Public Health Center was recognized for contributing to creating a food safety environment that citizens can trust by transparently and clearly handling compliance and violations of food companies. Notably, this award is especially meaningful as the center was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution for Food Safety Management’ for two consecutive years, following last year.
In November, at the ‘2024 Community Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention Project Performance Competition,’ the center was selected as an excellent institution in two categories: the ‘National Nutrition Management Implementation Plan’ and the ‘Nutrition Plus Project,’ receiving a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

The Public Health Center was selected as an excellent institution for its contribution to citizens’ nutrition management and health promotion, creating policy environments, and faithfully establishing and implementing the national nutrition management implementation plan. Additionally, it was recognized for its proactive identification of Nutrition Plus Project beneficiaries and multifaceted efforts to eliminate blind spots in nutrition management, earning the title of an excellent institution for the Nutrition Plus Project for two consecutive years.
The Public Health Center was also selected as an excellent local government in the ‘2024 National Mind Investment Support Project Excellent Local Government Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Among 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, Yangju City earned high scores in various indicators such as service application rate, project operation performance, and citizen satisfaction, winning the honor of being selected as an excellent local government.
In addition, the center received commendations from the Minister of Health and Welfare for contributions to mental health promotion and mental illness awareness improvement, achievements related to World No Tobacco Day, as well as awards from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province for excellent cases in gender-sensitive policy evaluation and contributions to Suicide Prevention Day.
A Public Health Center official stated, “We feel rewarded as the sweat and efforts of our staff to improve citizens’ health have borne fruit,” adding, “We will do our best to provide high-quality health care services across multiple fields without focusing on just one area.”
