Dangjin City in Chungnam has wrapped up its 2024 municipal administration and announced the top 10 achievements that shone in Dangjin in 2024.
The selected achievements stand out in various fields such as economy, environment, tourism, and welfare, leading regional development and contributing to improving the quality of life for citizens.
The top 10 achievements of 2024 are: △Tumbler Eco-Friendly City △Grand Prize for Excellence at the National Local Government Job Awards △Attracting Korea-China Joint Drone Industry Companies △Achieving 6.962 trillion KRW in investment attraction in 2024 △Full-scale promotion of the Dobido-Nanjido Marine Tourism Complex △Selection as a Carbon Neutral Leading City △National Table Tennis Player Shin Yubin Signs as Hae-naru Rice Advertising Model △Supplying 13,280 tons of Dangjin rice to GS convenience stores nationwide (11.6% of Dangjin rice production) △2024 Dangjin Sapgyoho Drone Light Show △Proactive introduction of blood tests for dementia (Alzheimer's) risk.
The 'Tumbler Eco-Friendly City' achievement introduced an additional discount system for caf? tumbler use for the first time in the central region, with over 50 caf?s participating locally. When stores offer a discount of at least 100 KRW, an additional 400 KRW is discounted, and the use rate of disposable cups in public institutions was reduced to 2.1%, practicing carbon neutrality in daily life.
The 'Grand Prize for Excellence at the National Local Government Job Awards' refers to winning the top prize at the 2024 National Local Government Job Awards, ranking second among city-level employment rates nationwide at 70.9%, proving the success of the 8th popularly elected administration's job policies.
For 'Attracting Korea-China Joint Drone Industry Companies,' Dangjin City opened a Drone Industry Support Center and held domestic investment promotion briefings to become a hub for the drone industry. The Shenzhen Drone Industry Association and Chinese drone companies visited Dangjin to inspect key facilities such as the Seokmun Industrial Complex foreign investment zone. In Shenzhen, Korea, seven Korean and eight Chinese companies signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a Korea-China joint drone corporation.
'Achieving 6.962 trillion KRW in investment attraction in 2024' means Dangjin City signed investment agreements with 13 companies, attracting 6.962 trillion KRW in investments and creating 1,283 jobs. The cumulative investment attracted during the 8th popularly elected administration amounts to 13.8976 trillion KRW, serving as a key driver to overcome the risk of local extinction and increase the population.
'Full-scale promotion of the Dobido-Nanjido Marine Tourism Complex' refers to transforming the long-neglected Dobido area into a marine tourism complex and establishing it as a leading resort area on the west coast. Dangjin City signed a business agreement with Korea Rural Community Corporation.
In addition, a private operator was selected for designation as a regional specialized development zone, and it is expected that the development of the marine tourism complex will revitalize tourism and improve residential conditions in the future.
Dangjin Mayor Oh Seonghwan said, "In 2024, Dangjin was able to achieve remarkable results thanks to the efforts made together with our citizens," and added, "We will continue to create a constantly developing Dangjin based on citizen-centered communication."
