Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-sik met with Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok to discuss measures regarding the Jeju Air disaster, which resulted in 179 deaths.

According to political circles on the 30th, Speaker Woo and Acting Prime Minister Choi held a meeting at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul. Attending from the National Assembly side were Cho Oh-seop, Chief Secretary to the Speaker, Kwak Hyun, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs, and Park Tae-seo, Senior Secretary for Public Relations. From the government side, Bang Ki-seon, Director General of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Kim Jin-myung, Director General of the Planning and Coordination Office at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Kang Young-gyu, spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, were present.
The meeting was held in a solemn atmosphere due to the Jeju Air disaster that occurred the previous day. Both Speaker Woo and Acting Prime Minister Choi wore black suits and mourning ribbons. They conducted the meeting privately without any separate public remarks.
It was reported that during the private meeting, Speaker Woo and Acting Prime Minister Choi discussed the response to the Jeju Air disaster and support measures for the bereaved families. After the meeting, Senior Secretary for Public Relations Park told reporters, "We had an in-depth conversation regarding the response measures for the Jeju Air disaster," adding, "There is nothing to confirm regarding current political issues."
Acting Prime Minister Choi assumed the role after the impeachment motion against Acting President Han Duck-soo was passed on the 27th. Choi had visited Speaker Woo on the 9th to discuss the budget bill for the next year and returned to the National Assembly after three weeks.
