Kim Young-hee Okjang Selected as Recipient of the '40th Paju City Cultural Award'

Recognition for Contributions to Community and Cultural Development

Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 30th that Kim Young-hee, a holder of the Okjang, has been selected as the recipient of the '40th Paju City Cultural Award.'

The 'Paju City Cultural Award' is given to individuals who have contributed to the promotion of culture and arts and the development of the local community. Since its inception in 1984, this award has a history and tradition of 40 years this year.

The nomination categories include ▲academics ▲culture ▲arts ▲education ▲sports ▲community development ▲municipal administration development. This year, following the evaluation by the Paju City Cultural Award judging committee, Kim Young-hee, recognized for her contributions in the cultural field as the holder of National Intangible Heritage No. 2 'Okjang,' was finally selected.

Kim Young-hee was officially recognized as the holder of National Intangible Heritage No. 2 'Okjang' in April this year. She was selected as the awardee for her contributions to promoting the beauty and excellence of traditional jade craftsmanship to the public through artifact restoration, replication projects, and various exhibitions in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Administration. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the 'Paju City 2024 Year-End Ceremony' on the 31st.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “We ask for the citizens' continued interest in the 'Paju City Cultural Award' so that citizens who contribute to the development of culture, arts, and the local community in various fields can be recommended as candidates for the 'Paju City Cultural Award' in the future.”
