Applications Accepted Starting Today (30th) for Dual-Income Families and Others

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) will provide healthy lunchboxes for children to reduce the childcare burden on dual-income families during the vacation period and minimize care gaps.

From January 13 to February 7 next year, excluding the Lunar New Year holiday period, the district will support nutritious lunchboxes for 150 elementary school students in the area for three weeks. A company contracted with the Dongjak Family Culture Center will prepare and supply high-quality lunchboxes in a hygienic and safe environment.

Each lunchbox is worth about 10,000 KRW, with the district supporting 9,000 KRW and parents only paying 1,000 KRW.

The district will recruit a total of 150 students, 10 per neighborhood, on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. on December 30 until January 3. Dual-income families, single-parent families, and households seeking employment with elementary school children in the district can apply through the Dongjak-gu Office website's integrated reservation system. However, existing Dream Tree Card users are excluded from eligibility.

If selected, recipients can visit their local community service center to receive the lunchbox or eat in a designated space prepared within the center.

Additionally, for families with lower-grade elementary school children (grades 1-2) or those unable to visit due to unavoidable reasons such as the flu, delivery to the home (delivery fee borne by the recipient) will be arranged. For more details, please contact the Dongjak Family Culture Center.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, “We hope for much interest and participation in this project, which was prepared to solve the meal concerns of children from dual-income families during the winter vacation,” adding, “We will continue to implement differentiated care policies befitting Dongjak’s reputation as a great place to have and raise children.”
