Forming the 'Yongsan System Clean Cooperative'
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 29th that graduates of the ‘System Air Conditioner Cleaning and Maintenance’ program, promoted as part of the ‘2024 Public-Private Partnership Job Project’ using the Yongsan-gu Job Fund, have come together to establish a cooperative, marking a significant achievement.
‘System Air Conditioner Cleaning and Maintenance’ was a 2024 public-private partnership job project operated in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Central and Southern Education and Technology Institutes last May. Residents participating in this job project learned skills such as disassembling, cleaning, and inspecting system air conditioners and gained hands-on experience through field training at local welfare facilities like the Yongsan Senior Welfare Center.
Eighteen Yongsan-gu residents obtained qualifications in system air conditioner cleaning technology, and thirteen graduates succeeded in employment or entrepreneurship. Among them, eight individuals united with the intention of creating services and contributing to the local community using the skills acquired through the district’s job project, and established the ‘Yongsan System Clean Air Conditioner Cooperative’ last September.
Jaejin Ji, the director who founded the Yongsan System Clean Cooperative, explained, “I lost a family member who used to work with me in an unfortunate accident and went through a long, difficult time without being able to get back on my feet. With the courage to work again, I participated in this job project, met colleagues, and was able to establish the cooperative.”
Additionally, six graduates who acquired air conditioner installation, maintenance, and welding skills through the ‘Air Conditioner Installation and Maintenance Technician Training Course’ last October also joined, contributing to expanding the cooperative’s scope of activities. This project was another public-private partnership job project promoted in collaboration with the Polytech I University affiliated cooperation group.
District Mayor Park Hee-young stated, “As system air conditioners have become more widely installed in buildings recently, the need for specialized personnel to maintain air conditioners regardless of the season has increased. We will continue to actively promote job projects that help improve the employment rate of our residents.”
