Prime Minister's Office Plans to Discuss Security Measures
Choi Sang-mok, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance who has assumed the role of Acting President, is receiving 24-hour security at his residence. Currently, Acting President Choi does not have a separate official residence.
According to SBS on the 29th, the Presidential Security Service has designated the area around an apartment in Seoul where Acting President Choi resides as a presidential security zone. Acting President Choi does not have a separate official residence. Although President Yoon Seok-yeol and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo have been suspended from their duties, they retain their status and continue to use the presidential and prime ministerial residences.

The Security Service will provide protection for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok, who has taken over the role of Acting President following Prime Minister Han. As Prime Minister Han steps down from the acting position, the security level will be downgraded to that of a prime minister. The Presidential Security Service, which previously formed a dedicated security team, stated, "In accordance with the law, we will organize a dedicated security team to provide protection for Acting President (Choi Sang-mok)." Acting President Choi and his spouse will receive 24-hour security.
However, security personnel who are usually stationed in the security zone were not visible. This appears to be because the space where Acting President Choi is staying is private property.
Although President Yoon Seok-yeol and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo have been impeached, they retain their status and continue to use their official residences. Therefore, a separate official residence should be provided for Acting President Choi Sang-mok, but one has not yet been arranged.
When asked if there are plans to prepare a separate official residence, the Presidential Security Service told SBS, "We are conducting security in accordance with laws and principles." The Prime Minister's Office said it plans to discuss specific security measures soon with the Presidential Security Service and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
