Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, acting on behalf of President, faced impeachment on the 27th, marking the unprecedented start of the Choi Sang-mok 'Acting President Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance' system, prompting various analyses from foreign media.

Major foreign news outlets criticized that Korean politics is choosing confrontation over cooperation to resolve the crisis. They also expressed concerns that Korea's economy and diplomacy could be adversely affected amid this 'arena of conflict.'

The American daily The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the impeachment motion against Prime Minister Han was passed in the Korean National Assembly, analyzing that "it reflects the failure of Korea's two major parties to cooperate in resolving the deepening chaos."

The British daily The Guardian pointed out that "the Korean National Assembly has become an arena of bitter conflict over the country's political future." It added, "However, the internal situation of the Assembly reminds us how thin the line is between democracy and the rule of power."

British broadcaster BBC also observed that Korea's two major parties are shifting the blame for the chaos onto each other, and that the impeachment of Prime Minister Han "is likely to further deepen the political deadlock and uncertainty currently faced by Korea."

AFP reported that two weeks after President Yoon was suspended from duty due to the shock caused by the declaration of martial law, Prime Minister Han was also impeached, pointing out that the "political crisis has deepened further" as a result.

Foreign media pointed out that this situation is having negative repercussions in other areas such as the economy and diplomacy. The American daily The Washington Post (WP) published an article explaining the situation on the day of martial law and the background that triggered it, based on testimonies reported by Korean media. BBC also highlighted the martial law incident and its aftermath in detail in an article titled 'Why is Korea engulfed in political instability?'.
