Outstanding Achievements Across All Sectors of County Administration, Including Four Awards in Agricultural Policy
Haenam County in Jeonnam Province (Governor Myung Hyun-kwan) achieved its highest-ever performance by receiving 108 institutional commendations in comprehensive evaluations across various fields in 2024.
According to the county on the 26th, this figure is an increase of 18 compared to last year, reflecting a steadily rising external evaluation of Haenam's county administration.
This year, the county excelled in all areas of administration, including the top award in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s local finance execution evaluation, the top prize in the National Integration Policy Case by the National Integration Committee, the Climate Environment Grand Prize at the Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards, the Excellence Award at the Korea SNS Awards by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association, the Grand Prize for the operation of the Community Welfare Task Force in Jeonnam Province, the institutional commendation at the Korea Urban Awards by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the institutional commendation for regional innovation and response to local extinction by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
In particular, the agricultural sector, which is promoting a rural water supply strategy, saw a large number of awards. Haenam received the grand prize for three consecutive years in the Jeonnam Province Comprehensive Agricultural Administration Evaluation and the Agri-food Distribution Evaluation, as well as the grand prize in the Eco-friendly Agriculture Evaluation, firmly establishing its status as the agricultural center of Jeonnam Province.
The county also received numerous awards such as the Grand Prize for Outstanding Institution in Youth Farmer Development from the Rural Development Administration, the Grand Prize in the Best Practices Contest for Meteorological Disaster Response, the top award for two consecutive years in the Regional Food Index Evaluation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the top award in the Food and Horticulture Evaluation, the top award in the Agricultural Technology Dissemination Innovation Best Practices Contest, and the top award in the Comprehensive Livestock Quarantine Policy Evaluation, thereby earning the report card of the top agricultural county.
Additionally, Haenam was the only county in Jeonnam to receive the highest (SA) grade for six consecutive years in the 8th-term basic local government head pledge evaluation conducted by the Manifesto Practice Headquarters, was selected as an excellent institution in the 2024 Government Joint Evaluation, received the top award in the personnel field among cities and counties in Jeonnam, the grand prize in the Jeonnam Province Town and Township On-site Administration Evaluation, and was recognized as excellent in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation, continuing to receive high marks for fair, just, and transparent county administration.
The Haenam Minam Festival was selected as the representative festival of Jeonnam Province for three consecutive years, the Gang Haeyoung Project won the Best Content Award at Travel Show 2024, and the county received the Excellence Award in the 2023-2024 season training camp evaluation by city and county, earning high praise in the tourism, culture, and sports sectors as well.
Governor Myung Hyun-kwan stated, "The record number of institutional commendations is an achievement made together by public officials and county residents. I am grateful that we were able to end the year on a high note with good results thanks to everyone's hard work, and next year, all county residents will unite to further elevate the status of Haenam County."
