"Han Deok-su Impeachment Causes Government Vacuum"
"Could Lead to Anarchy"
"Caught in Power Struggle, Manipulating State Affairs"
Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's push to impeach Han Duck-soo, the Acting President and Prime Minister.
On the 27th, Na posted on her social media account, "The Democratic Party is determined to pass a politically motivated impeachment motion against Acting President Han today." She said, "They first threatened to appoint constitutional court justices using the acting president's authority, and now they are trying to impeach based on the quorum for the Prime Minister, 151 members, instead of the 200 members required for presidential impeachment." She pointed out, "This is a self-serving, manipulative interpretation and a contradictory, flexible standard. The content is also a very dangerous attempt that distorts legal principles for political purposes and could cause a government vacuum."
She continued, "Are they trying to create an unprecedented situation where there is an acting president of the acting president? Is the Democratic Party planning to play a deadly game of Squid Game with the people as hostages until only one cabinet member remains?" She added, "If even the acting president is impeached, Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok will become the acting president. It will be even more difficult for the Deputy Prime Minister to appoint constitutional court justices, which the Prime Minister could not do. If impeachments continue like this, the country will fall into an anarchy." She also explained, "Despite the shock of martial law, the government's efforts centered on Acting President Han have maintained the country's credit rating at a normal level, but the situation is precarious. The won-dollar exchange rate has surged to near the year's highest level of 1,465 won." She said, "The KOSPI index has also fallen below 2,430. There is a high possibility of additional shocks such as a sharp rise in dollar funding rates. If Trump's tariff bomb hits as well, the damage will be directly borne by the industry and the people."
Na said, "The impeachment of the acting president is an economic impeachment and a livelihood impeachment. Furthermore, it is a diplomatic and security impeachment that isolates the country and plunges it into crisis." She claimed, "For the Democratic Party, the martial law situation is not a national tragedy but a festival. They are obsessed with the presidential race, controlling state affairs through a majority party parliamentary dictatorship, paralyzing the executive branch, plunging the political situation into chaos with anarchy, and trying to expedite the presidential election." She urged, "The Democratic Party should abandon its obsession and anxiety over an early presidential election and resolve issues through bipartisan compromise. The ruling and opposition parties must immediately discuss and reach an agreement on the nomination of the Constitutional Court Chief Justice and the recommendation of constitutional court justices."
