Meaningful Popularity Indicators Continue... Explosive Popularity Also in Japan
The group 'ILLIT' set a record for the fastest K-pop group debut song to reach 500 million streams on the world's largest music streaming platform, Spotify, with their debut track 'Magnetic.'
According to their agency Belif Lab on the 27th, 'Magnetic,' the title track of ILLIT's first mini album 'SUPER REAL ME,' released on March 25, has accumulated 500,358,971 streams on Spotify as of the 25th. This milestone was achieved in just 275 days.
'Magnetic' made history as the first K-pop debut song to enter the US Billboard main singles chart 'Hot 100' and the UK 'Official Singles Top 100,' setting new records on global charts. Additionally, it was selected as the most streamed K-pop song overseas among songs released in the first half of the year and continues to enjoy steady popularity across various charts.
The song also appeared on Billboard's 2024 year-end charts. It ranked 61st on the 'Global 200' and 29th on the 'Global (excluding US)' chart, and secured the highest position among K-pop group songs by ranking 25th on Apple Music's 'Top Songs of 2024: Global' chart.
Despite not having officially debuted in Japan, ILLIT is gaining explosive popularity there. 'Magnetic' reached 15th place on Billboard Japan's 'Hot 100,' the highest rank among foreign artists' songs, and was the only K-pop song to enter the 'Top Shorts Songs' in Japan's annual YouTube ranking.
Moreover, the song ranked 3rd in the Japan region on TikTok's 'Year on TikTok' and was the only K-pop song to be listed among the winners at the 'Line Music Trend Awards 2024.'
Riding on the global popularity of 'Magnetic,' ILLIT is consecutively appearing on year-end stages and award ceremonies both domestically and internationally.
