On this day, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it has established the country's first national standard in the field of quantum information technology. The ministry plans to support the commercialization of domestic quantum companies' technologies and their entry into the global market through participation in international standards.

This national standard systematizes the essential technological foundation for commercialization by defining the concepts and functions of the quantum key distribution (QKD) network, a quantum cryptographic communication technology, and stipulating service quality evaluation items. It was developed in collaboration with academia and industry, including the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Future Quantum Convergence Forum, and the global quantum technology factual standardization organization 'QuINSA'.

The Ministry of Science and ICT is also participating in establishing international standards through organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) to promote the global market entry of domestically developed quantum technology. Hana Securities forecasted that the global quantum computer market size will grow from 1,200 trillion KRW last year to 2,700 trillion KRW.

Meanwhile, Dream Security's quantum key management system (QKMS) passed the security verification conducted by the National Intelligence Service for the first time in Korea last year and received a security function confirmation certificate from the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the nationally designated Quantum Internet Research Institute.
