'Gwangju Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of Yoon Suk-yeol Administration and Social Reform,' a coalition of civic groups in the Gwangju region, has defined the People Power Party as an unconstitutional party that blatantly denies constitutional values and has called for its dissolution.

Gwangju Emergency Action, which consists of 175 Gwangju civic organizations, held a nationwide simultaneous press conference in front of the People Power Party’s Gwangju City Committee at 11 a.m. on the 27th, urging the dissolution of the People Power Party. They stated, "This is an unconstitutional party that is willing to support insurrection for its own survival and is desperately trying to reinstate the failed coup leaders."

The Gwangju Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Seokyeol Regime and Social Reform, consisting of 175 Gwangju civic groups, held a press conference on the morning of the 27th in front of the People Power Party Gwangju Provincial Office, demanding the immediate impeachment of Yoon Seokyeol and the dissolution of the People Power Party. Gwangju Emergency Action pointed out, "Despite witnessing a situation where guns were pointed at citizens and the National Assembly, the hall of public will, was trampled under military boots in the absence of extreme social chaos such as war or riot, the People Power Party defended Yoon Suk-yeol's martial law as a legitimate act of governance."

They continued, "In order to prolong their own political lives, they are obsessed with reinstating the madman Yoon Suk-yeol by any means necessary," and added, "Meanwhile, the possibility of war is being raised, and the exchange rate has soared past 1,460 won, plummeting the economy."

They further stated, "The citizens of Gwangju reject the unconstitutional party People Power Party, which blatantly denies the constitutional values of the democratic republic of Korea," and demanded, "The illegal insurrectionist group People Power Party must be dissolved."

In a keynote speech, Lee Jonguk, head of the Gwangju branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, said, "Today, simultaneous press conferences and performances are being held nationwide," and called, "Let’s uproot the People Power Party, the host of insurrection."

Meanwhile, Gwangju Emergency Action will hold a rally at 7 p.m. on the same day, demanding the dissolution of the People Power Party and the demolition of its Gwangju City Committee. On the following day, the 28th, at 5 p.m., the '8th Gwangju Citizens’ General Rally' will be held at the May 18 Democratic Square in Dong-gu, Gwangju.
