Gochang County to Purchase Land Next to Post Office for 'Nongchoncungsimji' Space Utilization

Promotion of Local Food Direct Stores and Rural Agreement Center

Gochang County in North Jeolla Province recently announced on the 27th that it has purchased land owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance next to the post office, and will utilize it as a key space for the Rural Center Revitalization Project.

The site is located in a core area of Gochang-eup, but had remained an empty lot for the past 26 years due to its ownership by the ministry.

Afterward, the county established a plan for the 'Rural Center Revitalization Space' project and, after more than three visits to the ministry this year and persistent persuasion, was able to successfully purchase the land.

Accordingly, the 'Local Food Direct Store' and 'Rural Agreement Center' projects being promoted by Gochang County are expected to gain significant momentum.

The site covers 3,105 square meters, with a total floor area of 1,500 square meters and a three-story building. The first floor will house the local food direct store, the second floor will include a childcare center, youth and young adult cultural space, and multipurpose room, while the third floor will be used for the agreement center office and a large conference room.

The local food direct store has been proposed as a way to provide stable sales channels and income opportunities for small, medium, and elderly farmers in the region.

In addition, the Rural Agreement Hub Center, which will oversee and coordinate the 43.7 billion won rural agreement projects being carried out in 13 regions of Gochang County, will be operated at this site.

County Governor Shim Deokseop said, "By organically connecting the townships and each village, we expect that residents will be able to easily and conveniently access a variety of services," adding, "We will continue to increase the utilization of neglected spaces throughout the county for the convenience of residents and urban development."
