Waplet, a senior care specialized subsidiary of NHN, announced on the 27th that its local government-tailored elderly care platform, 'Waplet AI Senior Safety Care,' will be officially introduced as a service next year in the elderly care projects conducted by Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province and Seocho District in Seoul.
This is the first time that Waplet AI Senior Safety Care is being officially introduced as a service in a local government project. The mobile application-based Waplet AI Senior Safety Care provides services in four areas: daily and check-in care that checks well-being through AI-based notifications; safety care offering SOS emergency alerts based on mobile phone movement detection; health care including medical expert consultations, medication reminders, cardiovascular health checks, and cognitive function tests; and leisure care such as games, fortune-telling, and schedule management.
Waplet signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Yongin City and Seocho District in April and May, respectively, and has been conducting pilot operations of the service targeting care personnel and elderly individuals in local government elderly care sites. Especially, with the pilot service period ending in February next year, both local governments decided to transition to official service based on high user satisfaction.
Currently, Waplet AI Senior Safety Care is being piloted in a total of nine metropolitan and basic local governments, including Gyeonggi Province, Cheongju City, Siheung City, and Seongnam City.
The overall user satisfaction rate was recorded at 92.3%, and a survey conducted among project managers also showed high satisfaction.
Based on this positive response, Waplet plans to further expand the number of local governments adopting the official service. In particular, with the nationwide mandatory implementation of the 'Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Support Project' scheduled for 2026, it is expected that service supply within local government senior care projects will gain more momentum.
Meanwhile, NHN recently signed an official service supply contract with DeepMedi to provide more stable service alongside the local government official adoption.
DeepMedi is a company possessing technology for extracting and analyzing digital biomarkers through camera-based biometric signal measurement. It offers a solution that can precisely analyze biometric data via camera without attaching sensors directly to the user's body. Waplet AI Senior Safety Care is equipped with this solution, providing elderly users with the ability to easily measure heart rate, arrhythmia, stress index, fatigue, and more with just a finger touch.
