Global resource circulation leading company DS Danseok announced on the 27th that Gunsan Plant 1 has successfully completed the '2024 Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project.'
The Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project is an eco-friendly factory conversion support program led by the ESG Corporate Support Department of the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment, targeting domestic small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies owning manufacturing plants. Selected companies receive up to 1 billion KRW in project funding to build smart eco-factories.
After being finally selected in June, DS Danseok invested 1.7 billion KRW in project costs through government subsidies and self-funding. The project was successfully completed at the end of last month, five months after the agreement signing date.
DS Danseok introduced high-efficiency dust collectors and waste heat recovery systems, reducing annual greenhouse gas emissions by 251.7 tons (CO2eq, carbon dioxide equivalent). The introduction of twin compression equipment enabled a reduction of 600 tons of waste emissions annually. Additionally, to prevent environmental accidents, safety equipment for the sulfuric acid tank, a hazardous material handling facility, and an ICT-based monitoring system were established.
A DS Danseok representative stated, "Through the Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project, we were able to advance ESG management," adding, "We plan to continue implementing carbon neutrality and resource circulation improvement activities going forward."
