Bithumb Launches Dormant Asset Recovery Campaign "Searching for Owners of 443.5 Billion Won"

Bithumb announced on the 27th that it will launch a 'Dormant Asset Recovery' campaign to help customers find forgotten assets.

Dormant assets refer to assets held in accounts that customers have not accessed for one year. Last year, Bithumb also conducted a dormant asset recovery campaign worth approximately 267.3 billion KRW.

Currently, dormant assets within Bithumb amount to about 443.5 billion KRW, averaging around 160,000 KRW per person. The member with the largest amount of dormant assets held as much as 14.3 billion KRW.

The most commonly dormant cryptocurrencies were Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Ripple (XRP), in that order. The member who held Bitcoin without checking it for the longest period had not accessed their cryptocurrency for 2,711 days, equivalent to 7 years and 6 months.

Moon Sun-il, Head of Bithumb Services, said, “It appears that many customers still forget or neglect their held cryptocurrencies.
