Mobile Local Love Gift Certificate Distribution

Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it will provide a pregnancy support fund of 1 million won starting from January 2025.

The pregnancy support fund program aims to reduce the financial burden of expenses incurred during pregnancy?such as purchasing maternity clothes, exercise, and transportation for prenatal check-ups?so that pregnant women can enjoy a stable and happy pregnancy period.

Since 2020, Gwangyang City has provided 200,000 won in transportation expenses to pregnant women through the "Pregnant Women's Transportation Support Program." This program will now be integrated and expanded to provide a pregnancy support fund of 1 million won.

The eligible recipients are pregnant women whose pregnancy confirmation date on the application for pregnancy and childbirth medical expenses is after January 1, 2025, and who have been registered residents of Gwangyang City for at least six months prior to the application date. Applications can be submitted from 20 weeks of pregnancy until one year after childbirth. However, those who move into Gwangyang City after childbirth are excluded from eligibility.

The support amount is 1 million won, which will be provided in the form of the local mobile gift certificate "chak." Required documents for application include an ID card, application for pregnancy and childbirth medical expenses, an ultrasound image or medical opinion/diagnosis confirming at least 20 weeks of pregnancy, and a resident registration certificate.

Pregnant women whose pregnancy confirmation date is before December 31, 2024, should apply for the existing Pregnant Women's Transportation Support Program (which provides 200,000 won in cash). Those eligible for the Pregnancy Support Fund Program cannot apply for both programs, so caution is advised.

Lee Hyang, head of the Birth and Health Division, stated, "As the program has been expanded and integrated from the existing 'Pregnant Women's Transportation Support Program' to the 'Pregnancy Support Fund Program,' we expect higher satisfaction among pregnant women. We will continue to support pregnant women so that they can enjoy a stable and happy pregnancy period."
