During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that she heard B’s mother, who was holding B, insulting her parents and intended to throw the cellphone at B’s mother, but B was accidentally hit instead. However, it was confirmed that A and B’s mother were strangers to each other. A police official said, "We secured the bus’s internal CCTV footage and confirmed the crime scene," adding, "A will be sent to the prosecution soon."

Meanwhile, B’s mother expressed her grievance on social media. She said, "An unfamiliar woman threw a cellphone at my baby’s head, causing serious injury," and "I didn’t even know she was on the same bus, but she claims I insulted her." She went on to express anger, saying, "This is attempted murder."
