Through this agreement, practical exchanges will be promoted to expand industry-academia cooperation, including the development of employment-first, later-education linked curricula, operation of customized order-made education, and strengthening of further education for current employees. Additionally, both institutions will closely collaborate to carry out the Vocational Education Innovation District Project and support companies, as well as jointly promote employment support programs such as recruitment briefings.
Park Jong-baek, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Yeungjin College, expressed expectations, stating, “Through this agreement, we will expand customized curricula and strengthen students’ practical capabilities based on close cooperation with companies.” CEO Jung Soon-won of SM Namseon Aluminum also stated, “We will do our best to nurture talent that meets the demands of the automotive business sector and to achieve mutual development.”
Meanwhile, the Department of Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering and the Department of Semiconductor Electronics at Yeungjin College were selected for the Ministry of Education’s ‘Local Specialized College Revitalization Project’ and have been receiving 4.3 billion KRW in national funding over two years from 2023 to 2025. They are accelerating workforce training in the mobility field, including electric motors, power conversion, automation, electrical energy, autonomous driving, and secondary batteries, in cooperation with local governments.
In particular, the Department of Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering boasts a history and tradition since the founding of Yeungjin College and has produced over 10,000 specialized professionals in ‘electrical energy’ over the past 50 years. Among them, about 1,000 are playing key roles in maintaining and managing core electrical facilities, which are like arteries in domestic industries such as large corporations, demonstrating their expertise.
Lee Young-seok, Head (Professor) of the Department of Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering, said, “With the agreement with SM Namseon Aluminum Automotive Division, we expect to nurture talent specialized in automation equipment and expand opportunities for these students to enter large corporations, providing them with practical motivation.”
Yeungjin College and SM Namseon Aluminum Automotive Division pledged to maximize the synergy of industry-academia cooperation through this agreement and contribute to the development of the local community and industry.
