Yoo Seung-min: "Lee Jae-myung, the Weakest Candidate... Must Overcome 'Lee Jae-myung Phobia'"

"Jungdo Candidate Lee Easiest if Nominated" Diagnosis
"Politicians Involved with Myeong Taekyun Should Not Be Presidential Candidates"

Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min evaluated Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "He is arrogant as if he is already president, but in fact, Lee is the weakest candidate." Yoo also argued that if illegal activities are revealed involving ruling party figures linked to the 'Myeong Tae-gyun Gate,' they should not be nominated as the party's presidential candidate. On the 26th, Yoo appeared on KBS radio and stated, "Among the candidates we face, Lee is the easiest," adding, "President Yoon Seok-yeol became a serious criminal due to martial law that destroyed the constitution, but Lee currently faces various judicial risks at the level of petty criminals."

He continued, "If we put forward a candidate who can truly receive votes from reformist conservatives and moderate conservatives on our side, this candidate will actually become the easiest opponent," emphasizing, "So I want to say, please abandon the fear of Lee Jae-myung, what some call 'Lee Jae-myung phobia.'" Referring to recent polls showing Lee's approval rating at 37%, Yoo said, "If you subtract 37 from 100, 63% do not support him," reiterating, "Lee is arrogant as if he is already president, but in fact, he is the weakest candidate."

When asked by the host whether he intends to run if an early presidential election occurs, Yoo responded, "The Constitutional Court's judgment has not even properly begun, and we have not committed any crimes nor finalized the party's position," adding, "Until this situation is resolved and the party finds the right path, I do not plan to discuss such (presidential candidacy) matters."

Regarding the ruling party's presidential hopefuls, Yoo mentioned the Myeong Tae-gyun Gate, stating, "Myeong Tae-gyun's connections have been revealed not only with President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife but also with People Power Party politicians, and if illegalities related to election laws or political funding laws are exposed, we cannot put forward such candidates," emphasizing, "Of course, I have no relation to him. From the beginning, I thought that person (Myeong Tae-gyun) was a fraudster."

Finally, regarding Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kwon Young-se's plan to apologize to the public, Yoo said, "It is already too late," but added, "The party must clarify its exact position on martial law, acknowledge the mistake of not participating significantly when martial law was lifted, and now establish its stance on the subsequent impeachment and charges of rebellion. That should be the priority."
