Six Companies Sign Investment Agreements Worth 587.7 Billion Won
Iksan City announced on the 26th that it has been selected as the "Best Institution" in the investment attraction evaluation hosted by Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.
The city was first selected as the best institution in 2019, the inaugural year of the evaluation, and has received the top award for four consecutive years. Following last year's excellence award, Iksan has once again been named the best institution this year, achieving the honor of winning for six consecutive years.
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province comprehensively evaluated 14 cities and counties in the province based on ▲investment agreement performance ▲new employment ▲investment scale ▲investment attraction activities, among other criteria.
The city signed investment agreements with 16 companies totaling 587.7 billion KRW and created more than 700 jobs, earning high marks for its performance.
In particular, Iksan has focused on attracting companies in new growth technology sectors such as semiconductors and bio, including Dongwoo Fine-Chem, JBK Lab, and Organoid Science, thereby innovatively restructuring the region's industrial landscape.
Dongwoo Fine-Chem, headquartered in Iksan, has decided to make additional investments in a 99,000 square meter site in the expanded area of Iksan's 3rd General Industrial Complex, with an emphasis on securing new growth engines such as semiconductor materials.
In addition, promising bio companies such as JBK Lab, Organoid Science, and Redgene are expected to contribute to strengthening regional competitiveness and creating quality jobs.
The city is also working to attract food companies such as Geonsik Trading, Yonggung Food, Nextopharm, and The Damwoo to the National Food Cluster, aiming to develop products using local agricultural products and expand exports.
The National Food Cluster serves as a key hub where food industry companies are concentrated, continuing research, development, and production activities. Resident companies play an important role in the local economy. With recent expansion into future-oriented industries such as health functional foods and home meal replacements, the cluster is expected to become an important growth engine.
Jung Heon-yul, Mayor of Iksan, said, "This achievement is the result of our efforts to attract investment despite challenging economic conditions," and added, "We will continue to strengthen our investment attraction activities so that companies can invest in Iksan, and we will work even harder to create a business-friendly environment."
