Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, achieved a triple crown in agricultural policy evaluations by excelling in the 2024 vegetable and special crop policy evaluation, the outstanding city/county evaluation for direct agricultural product transactions, and the outstanding city/county evaluation for food policy.

Following its selection as the grand prize winner in last year's vegetable and special crop policy evaluation, Goryeong-gun received the top award again this year. In the food policy outstanding city/county evaluation, it earned excellence awards for two consecutive years, promoting innovative and progressive agricultural policies in Goryeong-gun.
This evaluation targeted 22 cities and counties within the province, focusing on efforts to transition to future-oriented advanced agriculture such as facility horticulture, achievements in activating local direct transactions to secure sales channels for regional agricultural products, and the degree of government policy implementation for appropriate rice production and food industry development.
In the 'Vegetable and Special Crop Policy Evaluation' category, Goryeong-gun secured 850 million KRW in national and provincial funds through the field crop joint management body development support project, actively supporting the cultivation of joint management bodies to overcome the limitations of small-scale farming in field crops, demonstrating efforts toward future-oriented agriculture. Additionally, the county was recognized for revitalizing local agriculture by discovering more than 10 new policies in the vegetable and special crop sector, including projects linked to the 'Berry Good Project' aimed at restoring the reputation of Gyeongbuk strawberries.
In the 'Outstanding City/County Evaluation for Direct Agricultural Product Transactions,' notable achievements included actively diversifying sales channels by signing a business agreement to operate a local market with large supermarkets in metropolitan areas. In the 'Outstanding City/County Evaluation for Food Policy,' Goryeong-gun received favorable evaluations for achieving the target reduction rate in rice cultivation area, the execution performance of soil conditioner supply support projects, and the supply support projects for small and medium-sized agricultural machinery.
County Governor Lee Nam-cheol stated, “This award is a valuable result achieved through continuous communication and efforts between Goryeong-gun farmers and the administration. We will continue to spare no support and effort to respond to various crises such as intensifying climate change and rapidly changing rural population structures, and to foster Goryeong-gun agriculture and farmers as the center of future industries.”
