Samsung Asset Management announced on the 26th that the 'KODEX Miguk Seohakgaemi ETF' has surpassed 100 billion KRW in net assets. In the past month alone, net purchases by individual investors have exceeded 60 billion KRW.
The KODEX Miguk Seohakgaemi ETF recorded a 95.8% return since the beginning of the year, ranking first in the entire domestic ETF market (excluding leveraged ETFs). No other domestic-listed overseas general ETF has exceeded a 100% annual return.
The KODEX Miguk Seohakgaemi ETF constructs its portfolio by weighting the top 25 companies by custody amount at the Korea Securities Depository, among stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, adjusting the weights monthly based on custody amounts. Current investment companies include leading U.S. big tech firms such as Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta. It also includes IonQ, a leading quantum computing company; Palantir, an AI software company; MicroStrategy, a virtual asset investment company; NuScale Power, an SMR (Small Modular Reactor) company; Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company; and Realty Income, a representative U.S. REIT product.
Existing ETFs have limitations in that even if the economic phase changes and trends shift, they can only partially adjust the included stocks and weights within a limited range according to predetermined rules. Since this ETF does not limit itself to specific sectors or themes and reflects the stocks that Seohakgaemi investors are investing in monthly, it can flexibly respond to market conditions and quickly follow the flow of smart investors.
At the time of listing, KODEX Miguk Seohakgaemi also invested in Walt Disney, Coca-Cola, Unity Software, and Boeing. Subsequently, it has made monthly changes in investment stocks and weight adjustments, including MicroStrategy, Eli Lilly, NuScale Power, and Joby Aviation, achieving differentiated performance.
It is expected that investor interest will continue as KODEX Miguk Seohakgaemi is the only product that allows investment in major U.S. representative companies in new growth industries with high returns this year, such as IonQ, Palantir, MicroStrategy, NuScale Power, and Joby Aviation, all at once.
Most U.S. companies disclose their corporate information transparently. With the increase in information channels analyzing and sharing data domestically, the activity scope of smart Seohakgaemi investors who 'learn first, invest later' is expected to expand further. Continued performance is anticipated.
Kim Dohyung, Head of ETF Consulting at Samsung Asset Management, said, "Although it was not initially recognized due to its unfamiliar strategy at the time of listing, it has now established itself as a core product chosen by investors through steady performance and investor trust." He added, "It is expected to be a good investment solution for investors considering U.S. stock investment."
