Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, stated, "AI coding education is a project that embodies the city administration’s philosophy of equipping all citizens with core competencies for the digital era," adding, "We will continue to implement various educational policies so that both youth and citizens can prepare for a better future."

AI coding education is a core project of Osan City, which pursues the goal of becoming an "education city." Since the launch of the 8th municipal administration, the city has been expanding opportunities for students to systematically learn programming basics and AI technology applications. For adults, the city is also running a "Python Programming Advanced Course" and "Generative AI Utilization Education."

The distinctive feature of Osan City's AI digital education is that it has expanded its scope to include all generations, not just students. Through this, the city plans to reduce the digital divide and establish a foundation so that anyone can utilize AI technology.

This year, the city operated a "Visiting AI Classroom" program in cooperation with local schools. Through this program, the city provided a total of 1,200 sessions of AI and software (SW) education to 119 classes across 25 schools. For upper-grade students, education focused on understanding algorithm concepts and step-by-step coding, while lower-grade students received experiential education to explore the principles of software in daily life.

In the first half of the year, the city also conducted an "AI Coding Convergence Classroom" for first-year students at nine local middle schools. To prepare for the full implementation of the high school credit system next year and to expand students’ subject choices, the city proactively operated the "Osan-type High School Credit System Course."

In addition to AI coding education, the city plans to invest 300 million KRW next year in "Native Speaker Online English Education" and "English Camps," and 140 million KRW in career and academic support projects to strengthen youth’s global competencies and support customized career planning.
