Minister of Health and Welfare Award... Received for 11 Consecutive Years
Discovering, Planning, and Providing Social Services for Local Residents

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has been recognized for 11 consecutive years since 2014 as a local government delivering outstanding welfare administration in the field of regional autonomous social service investment projects.

On the 26th, Jeonbuk Province announced that it was selected as the grand prize winner in the “2024 Regional Autonomous Social Service Investment Project Provincial Performance Evaluation” hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

The regional autonomous social service investment project is a program in which local governments identify, plan, and provide social services necessary to meet the diverse needs of local residents.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluates the project implementation performance of 17 provinces and metropolitan cities every year to improve the quality and strengthen the capacity of social services in local governments.

This year in the Jeonbuk region, through the project (three sectors, 32 services), 2,400 jobs were created at 406 service provider organizations, and approximately 22,000 people used the services.

In particular, Jeonbuk Province improved user satisfaction through systematic quality management, including customized consulting for cities and counties, service advancement, follow-up management for service completers, and strengthened management of projects with low satisfaction.

Additionally, efforts were made to resolve regional supply imbalances by expanding the supply base in rural areas. The efficiency of community social service investment projects was also improved through restructuring of similar and overlapping projects and alleviating selection ratio disparities according to life-cycle service demand.

Hwang Cheolho, Director of Welfare, Women, and Health Bureau of the province, said, “This achievement is the result of the efforts of the province, the community service support group, and all public officials in the 14 cities and counties to ensure the satisfaction of residents with the quality of social services. We will continue to develop customized social services tailored to the characteristics of Jeonbuk and strive to establish a foundation for market revitalization.”
