The Neulbom Support Directors, selected through the highest nationwide competition rate of 3.8 to 1, are expected to contribute to the substantial operation of Neulbom Schools.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has completed the selection of Neulbom Support Directors who will support Neulbom School tasks at school sites starting from March next year.

In October, Busan Education Office conducted an open selection for elementary school teachers with over 8 years of teaching experience to select 70 Neulbom Support Directors (66 elementary, 4 special education) who will oversee Neulbom tasks at school sites next year.

While many regions nationwide faced shortages, Busan attracted 266 applicants, showing the highest competition rate of 3.8 to 1 in the country. This is analyzed to be because many teachers took pride in participating in the ‘Busan-type Neulbom School,’ which leads Neulbom School policies with excellent cases such as the opening of Neulbom-exclusive schools and the development of Neulbom School curricula.

The Office of Education verified the applicants’ qualifications, character, and cooperativeness as educational professionals through on-site monitoring. Additionally, evaluation committee members, more than 50% of whom were external personnel, carefully assessed the candidates’ job performance abilities for Neulbom School operation through interviews and basic competency evaluations.

After a fair process, Busan Education Office finally selected 68 Neulbom Support Directors on the 6th. To enhance their understanding of Neulbom Schools before deployment in March next year, a capacity-building training was held over two days on the 20th and 21st.

The training began with a special lecture on Neulbom Schools by Choi Yoon-hong, Acting Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, followed by ▲ sharing directions and best practices for Neulbom School operation ▲ visiting Busan Myeongji Neulbom-exclusive School ▲ discussions on the role of Neulbom-exclusive Directors. Also, on the afternoon of the 24th, a notification ceremony for the successful Neulbom Support Directors was held.

The Neulbom Support Directors, selected for the first time this year, will be assigned to schools as fixed-term educational researchers at a ratio of one per 2 to 4 schools starting from March next year. They will carry out tasks such as planning and operating Neulbom Schools, including program establishment, as well as administrative and civil affairs processing.

The on-site deployment of Neulbom Support Directors is expected to greatly help not only reduce teachers’ Neulbom-related workload but also strengthen the substantial operation of Neulbom Schools.

Choi Yoon-hong, Acting Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “The Busan-type Neulbom School leads nationwide Neulbom School policies through excellent program operations reflecting user demands. Next year, by deploying Neulbom Support Directors, we will further increase student and parent participation and satisfaction with Busan Neulbom Schools.”
