Yongin Platform City is an urban development project being promoted on a 2.72 million square meter site covering Bojeong, Mabuk, and Singal-dong in Giheung-gu and Sanghyeon and Pungdeokcheon-dong in Suji-gu. It is being carried out as a public development project with Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and Yongin Urban Corporation participating as joint project implementers, with a total investment of 8.268 trillion KRW.
At the center of the project site is the GTX-A Guseong Station. The city plans to efficiently connect the metropolitan transportation network, including the Suin-Bundang Line and the Gyeongbu Underground Expressway, centered around Guseong Station to create a 'transportation hub in the southern metropolitan area' and develop it into a complex self-sufficient city with residential, commercial, industrial, and cultural functions.
Yongin Platform City will be divided into three sections for site development work. Section 3, managed by Yongin Urban Corporation, will begin construction first on the 30th, while Sections 1 and 2, managed by GH, will start construction in the first half of next year. The site development work is expected to be completed by 2030.
The district is planned to include ▲377,718㎡ of residential land ▲158,701㎡ of commercial land ▲449,705㎡ of industrial land ▲1,629,291㎡ of urban infrastructure land ▲113,454㎡ of other facility land. In terms of housing, a total of 10,105 units, including 1,954 public rental units, will be built to accommodate a population of 27,283.
In particular, the approximately 440,000㎡ planned for industrial facilities is intended to attract semiconductor research and development (R&D) companies, establishing an 'L-shaped semiconductor belt' connecting the Cheoin-gu Idong and Namsa Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex and the Wonsam-myeon Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex, according to the city's plan.
The city has designated about 90,000 pyeong around Guseong Station as a special planning zone to install MICE facilities such as a convention center and hotels, and plans to create a creative complex city plan through a private business operator competition to make it a landmark in southern Gyeonggi.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, said, "Gyeonggi Yongin Platform City aims to be a self-sufficient city that will serve as a key hub in the southern metropolitan area," and added, "We will support the project to proceed without any setbacks."
