'Chungju Man' Kim Seontae, a public official, complained that he received insults from some members of the public after his annual salary was disclosed.

On the 25th, Kim appeared on MBC entertainment show 'Radio Star' and revealed that he got into trouble after his salary chart was exposed during his recent appearance on the Weibo variety show 'Game of Blood 3.' Kim explained, "Since I'm a public official, people can roughly figure out my salary by looking at the salary chart anyway," adding, "When the show disclosed that my annual salary was 50 million won, it became a topic of controversy."

He said, "Some people said the amount I receive is small, but on the other hand, there were also people who insulted me, saying, 'What did a public official do to deserve 50 million won?'" He lamented, "But among other cast members, there were people earning 1.5 billion won or 500 million won." He continued, "After my salary was revealed, some people insulted or got angry at me, so I remember feeling quite embarrassed." However, Kim proudly mentioned that he recently succeeded in moving, saying, "I moved to an area in Chungju that is called the Gangnam of Chungju."

When asked if he feels a gap between being a public official and a broadcaster, he replied, "Honestly, I don't feel it at all." He added, "When I film with other broadcasters, I don't even think about comparing their earnings with mine. Instead, I feel it in the environment. When I get a casting call, they say 'Please come,' but a civil petitioner says 'Come out here.' Like they want to beat me up," he joked. On that day, Kim also surprised viewers by revealing that before his face was known, he was once spat on by a civil petitioner. He said, "I dodged when they spat, but some of it hit my clothes. There was no other reason for that behavior; when I tell them something is against the rules, some upset petitioners act like that."

Netizens who watched the broadcast responded with various comments such as, "How can people insult him for earning 50 million won when he promotes Chungju so well?" "How much effort goes into making just one YouTube video," "Such intense inferiority complex," "Cheering for Chungju Man," "I heard he gets a lot of scouting offers," "He should be paid double or triple," "Chungju City's channel is surprisingly really informative," and "Celebrities earn way too much."

Meanwhile, the YouTube channel Chungju City, operated by Kim, boasts the largest subscriber base among local governments with 769,000 subscribers. Kim personally handles editing, filming, planning, casting, and appearing on the channel, using various memes (internet viral content) to deliver city administration promotions in an easy-to-understand way. Kim rose to stardom through this channel and was specially promoted from grade 9 to grade 6 at the end of last year.
