Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that the Gyeonggi Yongin Platform City urban development project has completed various administrative procedures and finalized the development plan changes and implementation plan approval on the 24th, and construction is expected to begin as early as the first half of next year.
The Gyeonggi Yongin Platform City is a large-scale project covering 2,729,000㎡ (approximately 830,000 pyeong) in Bojeong-dong, Mabuk-dong, and Singal-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin City, with a project cost of 8.268 trillion KRW. It is a collaborative project jointly implemented by Gyeonggi Province, Yongin City, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and Yongin Urban Corporation.
First, 10,000 housing units will be supplied, including detached houses, sale, rental, and selective-type apartments, and residential-commercial complexes to support the resettlement of original residents and stabilize housing for low-income households.
Additionally, 450,000㎡, which is 16% of the project area, will be supplied as industrial land to promote regional industrial development and job creation. Gyeonggi Province expects an employment effect of about 55,000 people. In particular, 270,000㎡ will be designated as an urban high-tech industrial complex with acquisition tax and property tax reduction benefits to attract advanced industry companies.
Furthermore, 90,000㎡ of complex land linked with a multi-transfer facility will be supplied around Guseong Station, where two lines, GTX-A and Suin-Bundang Line, intersect.
Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The Gyeonggi Yongin Platform City is a core project included in the vision for establishing the Gyeonggi AI Knowledge Industry Belt, which Governor Kim Dong-yeon presented along with the creation of the Northern Suwon Techno Valley in March this year." He promised, "By developing residential and high-tech industries in the station area to secure self-sufficient functions and creating a ‘Gyeonggi Opportunity Town’ that provides better life opportunities for young people, we will build an environmentally friendly and attractive city."
