Distribution of Cake Making Sets for Vulnerable Children
Creating Opportunities for Families to Communicate and Build Memories While Decorating Cakes Together
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has supported the "Christmas Cake Making Set" so that Dream Start children can spend Christmas with their families.
From December 18 to 25, the district prepared a program for 185 Dream Start children to freely make and decorate cakes with their families. To enable children to make cakes for Christmas, the "Christmas Cake Making Set" was sent in advance to all 142 Dream Start households from December 16 to 17.
The program was designed to provide children with an opportunity to create memories and strengthen family bonds by making cakes together with their families.
The cake making set includes basic materials such as boxes, bases, cake sheets, fresh cream, and knives, as well as various decorating materials like candles, star-shaped cookies, chocolate pens, and Santa and tree-shaped decorations, allowing families to create their own special cakes.
Children were able to communicate with their families while spreading fresh cream on the cake sheets and decorating with cookies and chocolates to make a special Christmas cake themselves.
Families who completed the cakes said, "Making and tasting the cake together helped us become closer to the children, and it will be the most memorable Christmas as we were able to create good memories."
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Through this program, I hope parents and children can build intimacy and cohesion by making wonderful cakes together," and added, "We will continue to prepare various programs to ensure that children from vulnerable groups can participate in cultural activities with their families."
Dream Start is a project that provides customized integrated services to vulnerable children aged 0 to 12. It supports children to grow into happy members of society by promoting healthy growth and development and ensuring equal starting opportunities.
Currently, Geumcheon-gu Dream Start provides tailored services in areas such as "physical health," "cognitive language," "emotional behavior," and "parent-family" to 185 children and their families.
