Countdown Show Hosted by Jung-gu Office on the 31st
"Establishing as a New Year's Countdown Landmark"
Shinsegae announced on the 25th that it will hold the ‘2025 Countdown Show LIGHT NOW’ festival in front of the main building of Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch on the 31st to welcome the New Year of the Year of the Wood Snake.
This festival is hosted by Jung-gu Office of Seoul. Shinsegae Square will serve as the main screen at the center of this countdown festival. Shinsegae Square is a giant digital signage the size of three basketball courts (1,292.3㎡). Shinsegae expects to offer foreign tourists visiting Korea a special year-end experience comparable to New York Times Square and London Piccadilly Circus by providing various attractions such as K-pop performances and fireworks shows right in the heart of Myeongdong, Korea’s representative tourist destination. The countdown stages can be found at two locations: Seoul Central Post Office Plaza and the fountain plaza in front of the main building of Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch.
Shinsegae Square has already attracted significant attention from domestic and international customers with the ‘Media Facade’ unveiled on the 1st of last month targeting Christmas. The number of visitors exceeded 200,000 within ten days of its release. Besides the Christmas video representing the year-end, K-pop and cultural art content broadcast through the giant digital signage have established Shinsegae Square as a representative K-content attraction in Seoul, drawing high interest from global customers.
Park Joo-hyung, CEO of Shinsegae Department Store, said, “Shinsegae Square, where Shinsegae’s heritage and K-content harmonize, once again offers global customers a unique memory as the center of the New Year countdown festival,” adding, “With a variety of light spectacles, it will be reborn as a landmark representing Korea.”
