Announcement of a Transportation Revolution in Paju Following the Opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-A on the 28th

On the 24th, Kim Kyung-il, mayor of Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, visited the construction site of the Unjeong Central Station transfer center to conduct a final on-site inspection ahead of the opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-A line on the 28th.

The on-site inspection was attended by Kim Kyung-il, mayor of Paju City, the director of the Road Traffic Bureau, the president of Paju Urban Tourism Corporation responsible for operating the transfer center, officials from Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Daewoo Construction, and department heads related to the transfer center handover.

The Unjeong Central Station transfer center consists of 12 bus stops, 12 taxi stands, and 14 transfer parking spaces. The bus stops are located in the underpass, directly connected to the underground first-floor transfer center concourse.

Inside the underground first-floor concourse, convenience spaces have been created for citizens to wait and rest. Since the concourse is located in both directions, the power outlets on the Gyoha side and the Unjeong side have been designed differently to prevent confusion among citizens and enhance intuitiveness.

Due to the delay in the completion of the transfer parking lot construction until 2026, Paju City has established a temporary public parking lot with 1,009 spaces to minimize inconvenience for citizens. The temporary public parking lot is scheduled to open in line with the opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-A.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City stated, “The opening of GTX will play a significant role not only in the lives of our Paju citizens but also in the growth of the city of Paju.” He added, “Please ensure the transfer center construction is completed well in time for the opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-A line on December 28, so that citizens using GTX do not experience any inconvenience.”
